So in part 1 you learned some general do’s and don’t’s when it comes to building your opt in e mail list.

In this part, you are going to learn how to go about building this list.

Before we discuss the methods, you need to be aware that your list will not be built in a day. It takes time and effort. You need to set up your list building system and then you must drive traffic to this system you have set up.

You will need some form of an autoresponder service to build your list. There are several free and commercial auto-responder services available. Just do a search on your favourite search engine

Methods you can use to build a responsive opt in mail list

Your website. Include an opt in form to the home page of your website. It is no longer enough to just ask them to opt in to your list. You need to give them something valuable in exchange for their emails e.g an ebook or useful software. There are two positions that work particularly well for opt in forms on a website.

  • Above the fold:

This is the area of your webpage that is visible without having to scroll. The advantage of putting your opt in form above the fold is every visitor to that page will see the opt in form.

  • At the end of your content:

Yes this puts the auto responder form at the bottom of your web page. The reason this however works is after reading you highly insightful and stimulating content, your visitor is in a pre-sold state,. This is the best time to offer them something more e.g a free report or e book, in exchange for their e mail address. If you have great web site content, this method works very well.

Article Marketing:

You can write a bunch of informative articles on some aspect of your niche. Your articles should act as a teaser to your readers. Distribute the articles via article submission sites and then have the articles link to a landing page that has an opt in form. Again, if the content of your article is informative and interesting, the readers will want to learn more and are thus in a pre-sold state

Joint Ventures:

As a newbie to internet marketing, you may not yet have a significant list. But you may have a lot of ideas and information that is relevant to your niche. You could write a free, informative and factual report that has some unique tips. Package this as an ebook. You can then identify other internet marketers in a similar niche to yours and ask them if you could do a joint venture with them. An example would be to get them to use your ebook as a free bonus with one of their products. Off course somewhere in your e book will be an opt in form to your e mail list.

Before you drive traffic to your opt in e mail form, you need to have set up the first few emails that your auto-responder will send to your prospects. Pay attention to how you format your messages. This is crucial to the success of your e mail campaign.
